Over the past several years, the department has undergone an extensive effort to correct and provide for accurate descriptions of commercial salmon fishing districts, sections, statistical areas, and closed waters. District and section layers are delineated based on Alaska Fish and Game Laws and Regulations as described in 5 AAC 33.200. Statistical areas are not defined in regulation, but internally defined within ADF&G. For general guidance, registration areas are divided first into di Statistical areas included in the commercial fishing districts and sections in Southeast Alaska are used for salmon, shellfish, and miscellaneous shellfish fisheries for reporting harvest within Southeast Alaska. <\/SPAN><\/P> Districts are polygons that divide the waters of the State of Alaska and the adjacent Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) into small units for the purpose of reporting and analyzing fishery harvest. Districts are the largest unit within the overall registration areas followed by subdistricts, sections. and statistical areas. Subdistricts and sections are not applicable to all salmon registration areas. Salmon districts are divided by points/lines defined in ADF&G regulations<\/SPAN><\/P> This data set contains current commercial fishing salmon district points in Southeast Alaska. Depending on the timeframe of interest, users should be aware the section points, lines and polygons may not correspond with the date of inquiry, but may have been used historically and exist in another GIS file version. <\/SPAN><\/P> Latitude and longitude values shown are provided in a number of formats, including decimal minutes (DDM) and decimal degrees (DD). All coordinates should be referenced using the WGS 84 datum.<\/SPAN><\/P> This data set should NOT be used for navigation or for determining compliance with ADF&G Commercial Fishing Regulations.
